Marchmont is an area just South of the poular green space called 'The Meadows' (which leads from Marchmont into Edinburgh's Old Town). A very popular residential area for homeowners, students and a great place to stay for festival participants as is close to Bristo Square, Odd Town and Southside venues. Large traditional sandstone tenement buildings with spacious apartments line the streets up from The Meadows to the northern boundary of Grange Road. There are good local supermarkets such as Sainsbury and Scotmid and the newly opened 'Red Box' on Marchmont Road / Spottiswoode Street makes a welcome addition to the coffee bar / lunch scene. You might try our noodle bar 'Saiko' on Warrender Park Road and also 'The Rabbit Hole' is very poular for for high quality Bistro dining.
